Best Hostels in Germany

What to look for to find the best hostels in Munich

Obviously, the ‘best’ anything is completely debatable. But I made these lists with the interests of budget travelers in mind. In particular, there are a few things I took into consideration. By keeping an eye out for these few things, you’ll be an expert traveler in no time.

  1. Location – As in typical German fashion, Munich is gorgeously designed and has a strong, navigable infrastructure. The public transit is clean, quick, and efficient, enabling you to get anywhere you need to and relatively quickly. Munich is also not overwhelmingly large so it isn’t 100% imperative to book a hostel in a specific location. Stay in a neighborhood that is close to public transport and you’ll be fine.
  2. Price – While the best hostels in Munich are all awesome, they all come at a hefty price tag. Price of Travel puts the cost of backpacking Munich at $76 a DAY. That’s why if you are on a budget, it is imperative to make sure you have a hostel with some decent…
  3. Amenities – With such expensive prices in Western Europe as a whole, budget travelers always need to be aware of hostels free amenities. Services like free breakfast and free towels can really add up over time and save you a boat ton of money.
Psst! Heading to a hostel? Don’t forget to pack a padlock! It’s well worth having one so you can secure your locker and protect your stuff!

What to Pack for your Munich Hostel

We don’t often travel without these essentials.

Powerbank1. Power Bank: Showing up to a new city, after a 14-hour bus ride, with a dead phone and no directions to your hostel is a half-awake, messy nightmare. Putting a good power bank in your pack is the best and easiest way to keep your important electronics charged up for those long travel and sightseeing days.

Travel Pillow2. TRTL Travel Pillow: Long flights and bus rides are quite uncomfortable (most obvious statement of the day). Most travel pillows… Well, you know how they are. TRTL travel pillow is different. I mean, look at it! It’ll cuddle you to sleep every ride and it does a pretty damn good job of supporting your neck so you don’t get that stiffness or legendary popping when you stir.

best toiletry bag for one bag travel3. Active Roots Toiletry Bag: Keep your bath-and-beauty items organized and in the right place with this water-resistant bag. With large compartments, mesh and enclosed clear sections, you can fit everything you might need inside. Hang it up or let it stand on its own – this bag is a must-have for dorm-lifers.

AR Towel4. Active Roots Microfiber Towel: Quick-drying, lightweight, super soft and compact – the Active Roots Microfiber Towel is essential for every backpacker. No need to use the scabby towels your hostel may or may not provide! Use it for drying off, as a yoga towel or even as a picnic blanket – the options don’t stop here. Made of antibacterial material, you don’t have to worry about your towel starting to smell unpleasant either after lots of use.

Travel Pillow5.

Travel Pocket Soaps6. Sea to Summit Travel Soap: Soap can be very useful on long travels, but it’s hard to carry around. It might get taken off you at the airport or leak in your backpack. This Sea to Summit Travel Soap is the perfect solution for every backpacker with a thought for hygiene. The dry soap is super handy, and it definitely won’t leak (there’s nothing to leak). One box contains 50 leaves of soap, making sure that you’ll be clean, even on longer adventures.
