Cane Toad World in Gordonvale

Yes, you’ve read the word “toad” right – and it literally means that toad sculptures can be seen here. Cane Toad World is a kid’s playground located in Gordonvale, which is near Cairns. The park used to work with the idea that these toads can control the pests that is the sugarcane beetle. However, the project did not work, and the toads were instead, freed everywhere. If you run into them, make sure to say hi! Let your kids play at the slides and take pictures of the huge sculptures located in the park.

Outback Festival in Winton

Feel like a true-blooded Aussie and attend the Outback Festival in Winton, Queensland! The festival will be held from September 19 all the way to the 23rd, so make sure to mark your calendars during that day. Watch the dunny derby participants race their way to the finish line! The race is 200 metres long, and whoever has the fastest dunny wins! There is an award for the most creative dunny, too. This event will surely make you laugh out loud and take all your stress away.

Cuddle with a Camel in Mooloolaba

Have you ever cuddled with a camel? No? Then this is definitely your moment to do so! Camels are huge but basically harmless, as they are used to humans being around them all the time. Take this time to meet and greet a camel in Sunshine Coast, Mooloolaba. They have a camel dairy down there, which is called the QCamel. You can book a tour via Live it Tours, where you will experience tasting camel milk, learning about their health properties, and how a camel dairy farm operates. Of course, you can also get up close and personal with the camels!

This is a great opportunity to pet them and cuddle with them – all while admiring the beauty that is the Glasshouse Mountains. If you want to spend some time at the camel farm but you have some places you want to see during the day as well, then it would be best to reserve a car hire in Sunshine Coast for the ultimate comfort and convenience.

On the Inlet in Port Douglas

What trip would be complete without dining out? This being a “quirky things to-do list”, there has to be something unusual with eating out. On the Inlet is a completely normal seafood restaurant (a very good one, indeed), although it brings out a super big cod every 5 PM for the patrons to feed. They call him “George the Groper” – and he eats all of the small fish. You don’t get to eat him though, which is good, as I cannot imagine the feeling of being fed the fish that you just marveled at. Their food is amazing though!

Night Kayaking at Moreton Island

Kayaking might be pretty plain and simple, but not when it’s done at night. Rent a Perspex kayak in Moreton Island and see its wonders using just the moon’s natural lighting and two LED strips. The bright LED lights will reel the fish in, which will amazingly leap around you. You can even see some turtles if you’re lucky!

Queensland is beautiful and quirky, and you will never run out of things to do here. Make sure to keep your itinerary ready before heading out and exploring!
