Los Angeles Food Festival Asian Night Market
Swiss Ser October 11, 2020 0
The Los Angeles Food and Wine Festival is a four-day event showcasing the fine food culture throughout Los Angeles and the country. This is an opportunity to get a sample of the food cooked by some of the industry biggest influencers and talents.
I already wrote in detail about my experience in the event’s Grand Tasting (btw, it was awesome). But, guess what? I was able to attend the Asian Night Market hosted by Chef Masaharu Morimoto (of Iron Chef fame).
The Asian Night Market featured an abundance of unique tastings using Asian-inspired ingredients from some of the nation’s most influential chefs. In part, the event tried to mimic the multi-sensory street food experience of the night’s markets of cities like Chiang Mai, Kuala Lumpur and Taipei. However, this ‘market’ was a little different since the food was prepared with distinctive West Coast flavors (Thai pork belly tacos anyone?).
In addition, participating chef’s used traditional and novel methods to infuse their food with delicious and balanced flavors.
I was stoked to attend this event because I am in love with Asian food. To me, the food at the ‘market’ was so good that I tend to think I liked this event more than the Grand Tasting.
Also, the event took place next to the Walt Disney Concert Hall. It felt surreal to eat great food surrounded by the lights of Downtown LA.
