A lot of people ask me what makeup and beauty essentials I pack when on the road, bearing in mind I only travel with a backpack.
As a result, I’m sharing with you guys what exactly is in my makeup bag when I’m on the road. I have to admit, I probably take more than the average traveller, as I do love my makeup!
Skincare
La Roche Posay Effaclar Gel Mousse Purificante – £11.00
I have been using the product for quite some years now, and cannot live without it! Prior to using this product I used to get a few breakouts around my chin and forehead. I also used to struggle with pimples under the skin, so my skins surface wasn’t very smooth. However, since using this mousse I can honestly say my skin is SO much smoother and all my breakouts have virtually gone! It is quite pricey but you definitely get what you pay for, a bottle usually lasts me around 6 months!
Simple Kind to Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes (6 pack) – £12.00
I absolutely adore Simple’s facial wipes. Not only are they great for removing makeup (even waterproof), but they are great for on the go when you don’t have a sink or water to clean your face, they leave your skin feeling refreshed and un-oily. I purchase these in bulk (pack of 6) from Amazon as it works out a lot cheaper than heading to a drugstore and buying them individually.
Soap And Glory Glow Job Sunkissed Tinted Daily Radiance Moisture Lotion – £17.00
This is currently my favourite moisturiser to use. It’s tinted and adds beautiful radiance to your skin, perfect for that summer glow. You do only need about a pea sized amount which you squeeze out then can either rub briefly between fingers or like me, pretty much rub gently into your face. The beads break open and that releases the colour. It’s not a tacky colour or in any way a WAGGY orange….I think it’s just subtle and looks great on even pale skin.
Make-up
MAC Studio Fix Foundation – £22.00
This is my go-to foundation. I’ve tried so many different brands with varying price ranges but I always seem to come back to this one. It is a matte, medium to full coverage foundation and is oil-controlling, perfect for warm countries. It glides onto my skin without feeling clumpy and last a long time!
Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer – £17.50
This concealer is by far the best I have used (which is many), certainly much better than M.A.C. pro-longwear which use to be my favourite. The coverage for this is absolutely amazing and makes my skin look flawless, especially over my dark under eye circles and extreme redness on my cheeks/nose/t-zone. Never creases under my eyes which always happens with others and stays put for the whole day without reapplying!
Benefit they’re real! lengthening mascara – £19.50
I’d tried loads of mascaras before this one… and I’d always been left a bit disappointed. They took ages to get going (always clumpy for the first couple of weeks) and then as soon as they were making my lashes look good, they’d dry out and need replacing. This one makes my lashes look INSANE from the moment I take it out the box… it gives me lashes I didn’t know I had, and transforms the look of my whole face. I can’t be without this mascara even when travelling to far and unknown places!
MAC Honey love matte lipstick – £15.50
When it comes to lipsticks I definitely love a more subtle, natural look. I have been buying MAC’s lipsticks for years now and I’d never go back to any other lipstick. My favorite shade is Honey love, as its a perfect nudey colour. Its so easy to apply and lasts all day even if you’re on the go and travelling a lot.
MAC Whirl Lip Pencil – £13.00
This colour matches perfectly with Honeylove. I always apply this before my lipstick, as it makes my lips feels so creamy and hydrated. It doesn’t drag on the lips or crumble like a lot of lip pencils I have used in the past. It may be a little pricey for a lip pencil but it lasts such a long time and quality is amazing, I would highly recommend!
Urban Decay Naked2 Eyeshadow Palette – £38.50
This palette is literally my baby, love it so so much. Its a brilliant palette if you’re beginning to apply lots of eyeshadow regularly, a lovely palette to start with. The shimmery colours in this palette are beautiful for parties and tease in the crease blended with bronzer is gorgeous for an everyday simple look with eyeliner of mascara. Highly recommend this palette when you want an all round, diverse and awesome eyeshadow palette when travelling!
AUSTRALIS AC On Tour Contouring & Highlighting Kit– £19.99
This palette is great. The powder blends really nicely and the colours are very pigmented. Not to mention it is very affordable and so easy to work with. The cool toned colour in this pallet is my favorite. It’s perfect for creating a very natural contour that mimics the body’s natural cool-tones shadows. After applying this makeup in the morning I still can see the contour (not even smudged) at the end of my long day travelling and doing activities.
L’Oreal Paris Brow Artist Genius Kit Light to Medium – £9.99
I’m a big fan of brow powder and wax kits as I find this formulation so much more flexible than eyebrow pencils as you can achieve a much more natural kit. At almost half the price of Benefit Brow Zings and giving a similar end result, its a great choice, especially how these little kits last for ages. It leaves a far more polished and professional look than you could ever hope to achieve with an eyebrow pencil.
L’Oreal Paris Super Slim Eyeliner Intense Black – £5.32
This is my all time favourite holy-grail eyeliner! Makes the application so easy, due to the felt-tip pen which with varying pressure and angle can just simply line your eye or even create a wing as I do every day, and any mistakes can be easily corrected with a cotton bud. Very long lasting and remains bold and black all day.
Colourpop Lunch Money Pearlised Highlighter – £6.50
This highlighter is BAE! I’m not even joking, and for the price you can’t really go wrong! It gives the perfect natural glow to my light-medium skin with yellow undertones. It is not shimmery or glittery, and looks absolutely beautiful. Lunch money is excellent if you’re not huge on glitterbombs, and instead want a nice, natural looking glow. It’s probably my favourite highlighter for this reason- difficult to go overboard on with a nice, even finish.
Colourpop Nillionaire Eyeshadow – £4.00
My first impression of this product was definitely.. WOW. That can be interpreted in more than one way. The formula, texture, and colour of this product are absolutely beautiful. This shade is super glittery but I love wearing it both day and night. I most often apply it with a brush and I get just the right amount of colour. I’m very impressed that this lasts almost all day without creasing. Again, the price is amazing and you can’t really go wrong! Perfect for nights out when travelling!
